Kevin Giese, President and CEO
Kevin Giese is the founding President and CEO of BioMS Medical, a biotechnology company dedicated to the development and commercialization of innovative therapies, with an emphasis on the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis. Kevin has a B.A. in economics, a law degree, and an M.B.A.
Kevin practiced law in Vancouver, has been the past president of Mr. Lube U.S. and was a director and the chief financial officer for NQL Drilling Tools (a TSX listed oilfield equipment company). Kevin has in the past served on the board of a number of private and public companies and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of BioAlberta.
Dr. Kjell Stenberg, Chief Operating Officer
Dr. Stenberg holds a Ph.D. from the Karolinska Institute, Sweden and has published extensively in the field of oncology and cell toxicology. From 1975 to 2000, Dr. Stenberg held senior research and management positions at Astra and AstraZeneca (which as a merged entity is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world), where his responsibilities included the directing of research in multiple sclerosis. Most recently, Dr. Stenberg was the director of external alliances for the development of products related to the Central Nervous System, with wide responsibilities for the identification, negotiation and management of in-licensing projects in that area.
Tony Hesby, Executive VP
Tony Hesby received a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Alberta in 1968. In 1973 he joined Xerox Corp. in sales where he moved to Head Office in Toronto and gained extensive experience with Senior Management positions. From 1981 to 1993 Mr. Hesby was a Mr. Lube franchisee in Vancouver, BC. After selling his interests in Mr. Lube, Mr. Hesby became an Investment Advisor starting with Richardson Greenshields where he was involved in both money management and financings. He joined BioMS Medical Corp. as Executive VP in 2003.
Dr. Tony Verco, VP Drug Development
In his most recent position, Dr. Verco was the Medical Director at Endpoint Research, where he was responsible for medical support and strategy for clients in a number of therapeutic areas, including multiple sclerosis. Prior to this, he was the Medical Director for AstraZeneca’s Clinical Pharmacology Unit in Nottingham, UK and has been a member of numerous drug safety monitoring boards. Dr. Tony Verco earned a MBBCh degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he also earned his DA (Anaesthetics). In addition, Dr. Verco also has his MBA. He practiced clinical anaesthesia for five years before joining the pharmaceutical industry in 1996.
Randy Stroud, VP Regulatory Affairs
Randy Stroud has over 30 years of experience in managing drug regulatory and technical projects in compliance with the requirements of the Food and Drugs Act and Regulations. He has broad experience with Canadian and various international drug regulatory systems including both pre-market registration and post-marketing compliance.
He has held senior positions within Canadian pharmaceutical companies and has experience working internationally. His industry experience also includes many years working on a wide variety of issues, with colleagues, through a variety of trade associations. He has chaired various committees and has served on boards of a variety of associations. Mr. Stroud has a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Waterloo.
Richard Brown, VP Commercial Development
Mr. Brown has 24 years of business experience in the Canadian pharmaceutical industry. Prior to joining BioMS, Mr. Brown held positions of increasing responsibility within Wyeth-Ayerst Canada Inc. between 1995 and 2002, cumulating to the position of Director of Marketing, Core Products. He also held various marketing positions with Lederle Laboratories Canada (1991-1995) and SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals (1977-1991). Mr. Brown obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature from the University of Waterloo.
Brent Johnston, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Johnston has over 11 years of experience in senior financial positions in public companies, including chief financial officer of ViRexx Medical. Mr. Johnston is a Chartered Accountant.
